Jesus Christ is the Way,
the Truth and the Life.
Two thousand years ago, God Himself stepped into His own creation. The Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God and YHWH come in the flesh, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and went willingly to the cross to bear the sins of the world.
On the third day He rose bodily from the grave, conquering sin, death and hell. Today He offers forgiveness, peace with God and everlasting life to everyone who will repent and believe. This is not one way among many. It is the only way.
His Hebrew name is Yehoshua — “YHWH is salvation.” The infinite, eternal God, whom the heaven of heavens cannot contain, humbled Himself and came to His own creation, to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10).
Whoever you are, whatever you have done, Jesus is calling you. Read on, weigh the evidence, and meet the Saviour for yourself.

The LORD God
come in the flesh
Jesus did not begin in Bethlehem. He is the eternal Word who was with God and was God, the Creator of all things. His Hebrew name, Yehoshua, means “YHWH saves”, because He came to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21).
The prophets called Him “The mighty God” (Isaiah 9:6) and “Emmanuel… God with us” (Matthew 1:23). He took the divine name I AM, forgave sins as only God can, and accepted worship as God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.”John 1:1, 14
Before Abraham, I AM
God told Moses His name is I AM THAT I AM (Exodus 3:14). Jesus took that name for Himself.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”John 8:58
Every knee shall bow
The LORD said every knee would bow to Him (Isaiah 45:23). Paul says it of Jesus.
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”Philippians 2:10–11
Thy throne, O God
God the Father Himself calls the Son “God”.
“But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever.”Hebrews 1:8
The seven “I AM” sayings of Jesus
“I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger.”
John 6:35“He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
John 8:12“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved.”
John 10:9“The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”
John 10:11“He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
John 11:25“No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
John 14:6“I am the vine, ye are the branches.”
John 15:5Thomas, seeing the risen Christ: “My Lord and my God.”
John 20:28Lord, liar or lunatic? Jesus left us no other choice
Many people say Jesus was “a good moral teacher, but not God.” C. S. Lewis showed in Mere Christianity that this is the one option Jesus did not leave open. A man who claimed to be God, to forgive sins and to be the only way to heaven cannot be merely a good teacher. He must be one of three things:
A liar
He knew His claims were false and deceived the world. But liars do not live sinless lives, teach the Sermon on the Mount, or die for what they know is a lie.
A lunatic
He sincerely believed He was God but was deluded. Yet His wisdom, compassion, self-control and authority are the opposite of madness.
The Lord
He is exactly who He said He is: God manifest in the flesh. The resurrection settles the question — “declared to be the Son of God with power… by the resurrection from the dead” (Romans 1:4).
You must decide which. “Whom say ye that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).

For God so loved the world
The gospel is the greatest news ever told. It is not advice about what you must do. It is the announcement of what God has done for you in Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”John 3:16
God is holy
“Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts.”Isaiah 6:3
We are sinners
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”Romans 3:23
Christ died for us
“While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8
He rose again
“He was buried, and… he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”1 Corinthians 15:4
It is finished
God is perfectly holy and just, and He cannot overlook sin. The penalty for sin is death and eternal separation from Him. We could never pay that debt ourselves.
So God paid it Himself. On the cross the Lord Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God, took our sin upon Himself and bore the full wrath of God in our place. His final cry, “It is finished” (John 19:30), means the debt is paid in full. Nothing can be added to it.
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”Isaiah 53:6
He took our place
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree.”1 Peter 2:24
Cleansed by His blood
“The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”1 John 1:7
Peace with God
“Having made peace through the blood of his cross.”Colossians 1:20

He is not here:
He is risen!
The resurrection is the foundation of the Christian faith. If Christ did not rise, our faith is worthless (1 Corinthians 15:17). But He did rise, and He “shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs” (Acts 1:3).
- The empty tomb. His enemies never produced the body. They only claimed the disciples had stolen it (Matthew 28:11–15).
- Women were the first witnesses. In that culture a woman's testimony carried little weight. No one inventing a story would have written it that way.
- Over 500 eyewitnesses. “He was seen of above five hundred brethren at once” (1 Corinthians 15:6), most still alive when Paul wrote.
- Transformed disciples. Frightened men who fled became bold witnesses, willing to suffer and die rather than deny what they had seen.
- Sceptics converted. James, the Lord's brother, did not believe until he saw the risen Christ. Saul, who persecuted the church, became the apostle Paul.
The “minimal facts” even sceptical scholars accept
Dr Gary Habermas surveyed over 2,000 scholarly works on the resurrection written since 1975, including those of sceptics. He found that a handful of facts are accepted by the great majority of historians, believing and unbelieving alike:
- Jesus died by crucifixion under Pontius Pilate — confirmed even by the Roman historian Tacitus and the Jewish historian Josephus.
- His disciples sincerely believed He rose and appeared to them — so sincerely that they suffered and died for it.
- Saul of Tarsus, a persecutor of the church, was suddenly converted after he said the risen Jesus appeared to him.
- James, the sceptical brother of Jesus, was converted and became a leader of the church in Jerusalem.
- The tomb was empty — accepted by roughly three in four scholars on the subject. His enemies never produced the body.
No natural theory — stolen body, swoon, hallucination or legend — explains all five. Only one explanation does: He is risen, as He said.
“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”Matthew 28:6

Foretold by the prophets,
fulfilled in Christ
Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, the prophets described where He would be born, how He would live and how He would die. Only God could write history in advance.
Born of a virgin
Born in Bethlehem
Betrayed for thirty pieces of silver
Pierced hands and feet
Died for our sins
Rose from the dead
The odds of one man fulfilling just eight of these prophecies by chance. That was the calculation of Professor Peter Stoner in Science Speaks (1958): like covering the whole state of Texas two feet deep in silver dollars, marking one, and having a blindfolded man pick the marked coin on his first try.
For 48 prophecies, Stoner calculated the odds at 1 in 10157. Jesus fulfilled far more than 48. This is not chance. This is the signature of God.
Daniel’s seventy weeks — the year Messiah would come
Daniel 9:25 foretold that from “the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks” — 69 “weeks” of years. After that, Messiah would be “cut off, but not for himself,” and then the city and the sanctuary would be destroyed (Daniel 9:26).
Sir Robert Anderson (The Coming Prince, 1894) and Dr Harold Hoehner both calculated that these 173,880 days end in the very week Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, presenting Himself as King — days before He was crucified. Then, exactly as Daniel said, Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed by Rome in AD 70. Messiah had to come before AD 70. Only Jesus did.

Many religions.
Only one Saviour.
The founders of the world's religions pointed to a path, a law or a teaching. Jesus pointed to Himself. And He alone backed up His claims by rising from the dead.
Religious founders
Were sinners like us, and said so
Their graves
Are still occupied today
Their message
“Do this, and perhaps you will be saved”
Jesus Christ
Sinless God in the flesh. His tomb is empty. His message: “It is finished.”
Religion: man climbing up to God
Every other religion is a ladder. Pray enough, give enough, fast enough, be good enough — and perhaps, one day, you will reach God. But no one ever knows if they have climbed high enough, because “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).
Jesus: God coming down to man
The gospel is the opposite. We could not climb up to God, so God came down to us. Jesus did what we could never do and paid what we could never pay. Religion says “do.” Jesus says “done” — “It is finished” (John 19:30).
| BELIEF | THE PROBLEM | THE WAY OF SALVATION | ASSURANCE? |

How to find a good church
- It preaches from the Bible as God’s inspired, final authority.
- It teaches that Jesus is God come in the flesh, who died and rose bodily.
- It teaches salvation by grace through faith, not by works.
- It calls people to repent and be born again, and loves one another.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”2 Corinthians 5:17

Behold, He cometh!
The same Jesus who ascended into heaven is coming again, bodily and visibly, in power and great glory. The Bible describes the signs of the last days, and we see them all around us: deception, wars, lawlessness and people who are “lovers of their own selves” (2 Timothy 3:1–2).
No one knows the day or the hour (Matthew 24:36), so the call is to be ready now.
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”1 Thessalonians 4:16
He will come in like manner
“This same Jesus… shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”Acts 1:11
Every eye shall see Him
“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him.”Revelation 1:7
Our blessed hope
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”Titus 2:13
“Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”Revelation 22:20

Questions people ask
Was Jesus just a good teacher or a prophet?
No. A good teacher does not claim to be God. Jesus said, “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30), and the crowd took up stones because He made Himself God (John 10:33). He is either Lord or He is not good at all. The resurrection proves He is Lord.
Can I be saved by being a good person?
No one is good enough. “There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10). Salvation is a gift received by faith in Christ, “not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:9).
Is it too late for me?
Not while you have breath. The thief on the cross was saved in his final hours (Luke 23:42–43). “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
What does it mean to be born again?
Jesus said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). It is the new spiritual life God gives by the Holy Spirit when you trust in Christ.
Why does a good God allow suffering?
God made a perfect world, but sin brought death and suffering into it (Romans 5:12). God has not stayed distant: in Jesus He entered our suffering, was rejected, scourged and crucified, and through the cross He defeated sin and death. One day He “shall wipe away all tears” (Revelation 21:4). Suffering is temporary for those who trust Him — eternity is not.
Has the New Testament been changed over time?
No ancient book is better preserved. Over 5,800 Greek manuscripts survive, some within a few generations of the originals, plus thousands more in early translations and countless quotations by early Christian writers. Comparing them shows the text we read today is what the apostles wrote. “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).
Aren’t all religions basically the same?
No. They contradict each other on who God is, who Jesus is and how we are saved, so they cannot all be true. Only Jesus claimed to be God, died for our sins and rose again. “Neither is there salvation in any other” (Acts 4:12).
Where should I start reading the Bible?
Start with the Gospel of John, written “that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name” (John 20:31).
